BioDave and Joy Forney, along with their children, Continue reading...Dave was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, but grew up as a missionary kid (“MK”) in Brazil. His MK years were full of excitement and wild adventures. But the best memory was Thanksgiving Day, 1983, when he gave his heart and life to Christ! Ten years later, while on a mission trip to Papua New Guinea, God clarified His leading in Dave’s life—missionary aviation! In pursuit of that leading, Dave attended Moody Aviation, where he earned a B.S. in Aviation Technologies. He also holds an A&P Mechanic Certificate, a Commercial Airplane Land & Sea Pilot’s Certificate with Instrument rating, and a Flight Instructor Airplane Certificate with an Instrument Instructor rating. Joshua 1:9 is a keystone verse for Dave. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joy grew up as a pastor’s kid (“PK”) in Oregon. At the age of eight she made a personal, life-changing decision to give her life to Christ. Several years later, at a Christian Youth in Action Camp, God grabbed the full attention of Joy’s heart! He gave her an overwhelming burden for lost and hurting people, along with a burning passion to share with them the love of Christ! After High School, Joy completed a one-year course at Capernwray Bible School in Carnforth, England. She then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, as an International Ministries Major. Joy shares that II Cor. 4:7 is a very special verse to her, as she’s realized time and again that despite our personal insufficiency, God is always totally sufficient! “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” Dave and Joy met at Moody Bible Institute in the fall of ’96, and were married on July 9th, of 1999. Before joining MAF, they gained valuable cross-cultural experience while working in a remote Native Athabascan village just above the Arctic Circle in Alaska. To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF. You are invited to become a ministry partner with Dave and Joy in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer or financial support. Collapse Bio Section |

Britton (7), Hannah (5), Hudson (3), and Tanner & Tyler (1), are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship serving in Kalimantan, Indonesia, as a pilot and mechanic family. Dave has a blast using the airplanes to help breach vast geological barriers for Christ. He’s thrilled to be able to encourage and facilitate the work of many Indonesian pastors, missionaries and Christian organizations, while at the same time developing one-on-one relationships with the nationals he serves. Joy loves supporting Dave in His flying ministry, and providing a “place called home” for the family. When she’s not concentrating on full-time mom duties, and the lengthy process of shopping for and preparing meals, she also enjoys using her gifts of hospitality and encouragement to strengthen their mission team, and build relationships with their Indonesian neighbors.
